Personal advice

We offer you personal advice on development and setup questions comfortably at home. Just a few easy-to-assemble and safe movement elements, like a climbing triangle, change your child's activity level and thus their mood for the better. But that is only the beginning; with us, you can turn your home into a place where your child can always follow their need for movement and relaxation, and then something magical happens—as if by magic, calmness settles in with you, in your child, and in you!

We are Isabell, Erik, and Kosmo. We founded Kletterling out of necessity: Quality is so often feigned with marketing nonsense. We want as much clarity as possible. What material is my child's toy made of, where does it come from, and were chemicals used? How is the safety, and is it really made in Europe? Made in China, assembled in Germany, and then called Made in Germany does not exist with us. All products come from small makers in Europe, to whom we give their well-deserved platform here. Often, the problem lies in customer service in a foreign language, which we fully take over because we love to be in contact with you, which unfortunately is becoming rarer nowadays.

Also, when you buy from us, you use secure payment methods in Germany from a German company, which gives you a good feeling and security so that you can fully focus on why you are here: to find the right movement toy for your child.

Thank you for your trust!

Scooters for Children: How to Choose the Perfect Scooter

Riding a scooter is not only great fun for children, it also promotes their motor skills and balance.
Maybe you're considering buying a scooter for your child or you already own one that no longer matches your child's age or abilities.
In this article you'll learn everything you need to know to choose the perfect scooter for your child.

There are a variety of models on the market: from three-wheel scooters for the very young to stylish stunt scooters for older kids.
We show you what to look for when buying, which safety aspects are essential, and how to best tailor the scooter to your child's needs.

Stay with us as we dive deep into the world of children's scooters and give you helpful tips and tricks to make your child's scooter ride safe and exciting.

Choosing the Right Scooter for Children

Finding the ideal scooter for children can be a challenge, but with the right information you can make an informed decision.

What should you look for?

When buying a scooter for your child it's important to consider safety, comfort, and growth needs. Look for sturdy frames and stable steering. The scooter should also have wide wheels that provide stability on different surfaces. Models with adjustable handlebars and those that can grow with the child are especially advantageous. Safety features like non-slip decks and effective brakes are essential.

Recommended Age and Size Adjustments

An important aspect when buying a scooter is the recommended age and the appropriate size adjustments. Three-wheel scooters are often suitable for toddlers, while older children can benefit from two-wheel models. The size of the scooter should also be matched to your child's height. Check the manufacturer's recommendations regarding minimum and maximum weight and height to ensure the scooter is suitable for your child.
Adjustable handlebars are a plus because they allow longer use by growing with your child.

Safety When Riding a Scooter

Important Safety Gear

Make sure your child rides safely by having the right safety gear on hand.
A well-fitting helmet protects the head from injuries in falls. It is essential even for the very first ride. Knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards are also part of the basic equipment to effectively prevent scrapes and bruises. Reflectors and bright clothing ensure your child is visible even in poor lighting conditions. Make sure these items meet the European safety standard EN 71; this ensures high quality and product safety.

Tips for Safe Riding

Mastering the scooter safely is fundamental to avoiding accidents. Before your child rides the scooter, it's important they can stop, steer, and maneuver confidently. Practice these skills on flat, obstacle-free ground before attempting more complex routes. Teach your child to always pay attention to traffic and to be considerate of pedestrians. Also explain how important it is not to attempt risky maneuvers like riding at high speed or jumping with the scooter. Safe routes, preferably traffic-calmed areas and parks, offer additional protection.

Popular Scooter Models for Children

In this section you'll learn more about the most popular scooter models that will not only bring your child joy but also support their motor skills and balance.

Entry-Level Models

When choosing a children's scooter it's important that the model is safe and stable. Entry-level models like three-wheel scooters are excellent for toddlers who are just learning to scooter.
These scooters offer high stability and usually feature wide wheels and non-slip decks, making them ideal for first rides.
Popular models in this category include the children's scooter and the city scooter for kids, which impress with their robust construction and ease of use. The handlebars of these scooters are often height-adjustable, allowing the scooter to grow with your child.

Advanced Models for Experienced Children

For children who already have experience with scooters there are advanced models like stunt scooters or kick scooters.
These are ideal for older children who want to improve their skills. Advanced scooters for children from around 8 years old usually have a lightweight aluminum construction that facilitates handling and performing tricks.
Models such as a kick scooter for kids or a scooter for children offer, in addition to higher load capacity, special safety features like effective brakes and grippy wheels that provide extra safety and thereby increase parents' confidence.

Care and Maintenance of Children's Scooters

Regular care and maintenance of your child's scooter not only ensure a long service life but also your child's safety.
The following points should be checked and maintained regularly:

Regular Maintenance

Regular maintenance of your child's scooter includes several important steps.

Check screws and safety-relevant connections at least once a month to ensure they are tight.

Handlebars and wheels should be free of damage and move easily.

Clean the scooter regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust that can affect the mechanics.

If the scooter has pneumatic tires, check the air pressure regularly to ensure optimal riding conditions.

Common Problems and Solutions

If the scooter makes unusual noises or is hard to steer, this could indicate loose screws or a dirty steering area.
Tighten the screws and clean the steering area thoroughly.

Problems with the wheels, such as uneven wear or instability, often require axle adjustment or wheel replacement.

Use spare parts designed specifically for your child's scooter to ensure safety and compatibility.

Conclusion

Scooting not only brings your child fun, it also promotes important motor skills and balance. With the right information at hand you can choose the ideal scooter that considers safety, comfort, and your child's developmental needs. Remember that the right equipment and regular maintenance are essential to ensure the scooter's safety and longevity. Give your child a safe and enjoyable experience on wheels by following the recommendations and tips in this article.
