Safe climbing for children: How to optimally support your child

Climbing is a valuable experience for children, promoting their motor development and self-confidence. To ensure your child climbs safely and enjoyably, please follow these guidelines:

Let your child explore independently

Avoid sitting, standing, or hanging your child on the climbing equipment. This can lead to injury and deprives the child of the opportunity to develop their skills independently. Climbing equipment is most beneficial when your child explores the climbing triangle or other equipment on their own initiative.

Every child has their own pace when learning to climb. At first, they may only practice pulling themselves up and standing before gradually attempting climbing. Through this self-directed approach, your child learns to assess their limits and develops a confident sense of handling the climber.

Show your child the new play equipment and encourage them to be curious. Be patient and give your child the time they need. You'll be amazed at how brave and confident your child can become while climbing.

The three most important rules for safe climbing

  1. Supervision: Never leave your child climbing unattended. Always be nearby and provide support if needed. Even as little ones become more confident over time, they still need your presence and assistance.
  2. Suitable surface: Place the climbing frame on a non-slip, level surface or a suitable base such as our play mats or puzzle felt mats . This prevents the device from slipping and provides a cushioning surface.
  3. Independent climbing: Let your child decide when and how to use the climbing equipment. Do not lift, sit, or hang from the climbing frame, as this can lead to injury. The greatest benefit comes from your child climbing on their own initiative and developing their skills.

Follow these rules and have fun discovering the fascinating world of climbing together!

Important: Never leave your child unattended and always provide support.
