Sustainable climbing blocks made from Baltic birch | Kletterling®
European Trees – Our Sustainable Raw Material
Europe is rich in beautiful forests. Especially in Germany, Poland, and the neighboring countries, extensive forest areas cover the landscape. These regions are known for their pristine nature, their national parks, and their skilled craftsmen. Wood, particularly Baltic birch, plays a central role. High-quality wood products from these regions are valued worldwide.
Our climbing toys are made from a rapidly renewable and thus sustainable raw material, which represents an important economic sector for our manufacturing countries and secures jobs.
Our holistic approach for more sustainability
Sustainability means that the consumption of a raw material must not exceed its regeneration capacity. But today's understanding of sustainability goes even further: it is about contributing to the future of our planet.
As a company, we ask ourselves: What can we do to secure the future of the Earth? The cycle of nature closes when a product can be reused after its use or fully returned to nature.
This is never the case with plastic, even if the industry suggests otherwise. Even worse: plastic ends up in nature or is burned. Both are very bad for us, our children, and our planet.
Here is a contribution from the Austrian ORF from 2023; its relevance has not changed:
And here is a contribution from the German Norddeutscher Rundfunk:
Our sustainable production
Our products are durable and can be passed on to subsequent generations. If a climbing toy is no longer needed, the product can be resold. The screws have an even longer lifespan and can be reused. This fulfills the core idea of sustainability.
Regional and social production
We source our materials exclusively from manufacturers in Germany and neighboring countries such as Poland. This way, we support fair employers in Europe and promote regional economic growth. Our partners pay above-average wages, maintain an open, friendly relationship with their employees, and grant everyone a say.
By purchasing a climbing toy, you support a fair and social employer and strengthen economic development in Europe! Thank you very much for your trust.
Our carefully selected materials
FSC-certified wood – our highest standard
We place the highest value on FSC-certified wood, regardless of the country of origin. All our wood suppliers from Germany and neighboring countries have an FSC 100 certificate. We offer products with and without varnishes and oils; it is your decision what your children come into contact with. Untreated, buttery soft wood or varnished wood if it should be particularly easy to care for or intended for outdoor use.
Screws without toxic chromium VI
The screws for our climbing toys are protected against rust with non-toxic materials according to EU regulations. Harmful chromium VI is not contained in our products.
PS: Cheap products from the Far East belong neither in your home nor in the children's room.
